The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport combines the winning formula of the seven-seater Atlas—ample interior space, plus a host of comfort and technology features at an attractive price—with bold design for a stylish five-seater. Assembled in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the Atlas Cross Sport combines hallmark Volkswagen driving dynamics and attention to detail, setting it apart from the competition.Like the Atlas, the Atlas Cross Sport offer has been streamlined for the 2022 model year to six trims—SE, SE w/ Technology, SEL, SEL R-Line, SEL R-Line Black (late availability) and SEL Premium R-Line.The SE models now feature the 8.0-inch Digital Cockpit. The SE w/ Technology models with the VR6 engine now feature a standard trailer hitch.SEL models have standard 4Motion and machined 20-inch wheels. An optional R-Line Black package (late availability) features black 20-inch wheels, along with black R-Line styling elements. The SEL Premium R-Line includes 21-inch wheels.
The Taos will offer three trim levels, each available with either front-wheel or 4Motion all-wheel-drive, all powered by an efficient 1.5-liter turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive models are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while 4Motion models feature a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.Designed to slot into the heart of the booming compact SUV market, the Taos features a clean, youthful design tied closely to other Volkswagen SUVs. The standard LED light signature borrows cues from the Atlas Cross Sport, while on SEL models an illuminated LED light bar in the grille reflects the style of the ID.4 electric SUV. Four available wheel choices—from standard 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels to two 18-inch wheel options (machined or black finish) and 19-inch wheels—along with eight available colors offer owners a variety of ways to demonstrate their personal style.The Taos is 175.8 inches long—9.3 inches shorter than the Tiguan—with a wheelbase of 105.9 inches; it is 72.5 inches wide and 64.4 inches tall. Passenger space runs a roomy 99.5 cubic feet—just 1.6 cu. ft. less than the two-row Tiguan—with 28.1 cu. ft. of luggage space behind the second-row seats and 66.3 cu. ft. with the second row folded down. In addition to offering generous cargo space, the Taos offers a comfortable ride for all passengers, with 40.1 inches of legroom in the front and 37.9 in the rear.

The refreshed 2024 model offers enhanced technology, upgraded interior designs and materials, and a livelier powertrain.Atlas makes a style statement from the front. Outside, model year 2024 brings a new front end design and greater differentiation between Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport. A wide chrome four-bar grille is framed by LED headlights with the newly standard Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS); SEL Premium R-Line models feature a gloss-black grille. Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) wrap around the headlights for a clean design and, on all but base trims, continue into an illuminated lightbar that sits atop of an illuminated VW logo, giving the vehicle an unmistakable premium look. A new front fascia with integrated air intakes completes the front end treatment.Headlight designs feature standard full-LED lighting, including low beams, high beams, and Daytime Running Lights (DRLs); taillights are LEDs as well. For model year 2024, 900-lumen LED headlights with Volkswagen’s Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) and automatic headlamps and rain-sensing windshield wipers are standard across the lineup.The face of Atlas Peak EditionTM models immediately stands out from other Atlas trims with a rugged front fascia and underbody cladding in silver. A gloss-black “X” design element stretches across the lower fascia, borrowed from Atlas Cross Sport. Two chrome strips pop on an otherwise blacked-out grille, flowing to either side of the illuminated logo.
While the refreshed Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport maintain the same underpinnings of the successful outgoing models, the spacious interior of each vehicle receives a major upgrade for the 2024 model year. Premium materials are adopted throughout, including a leatherette-trimmed soft-touch dash and center console. Front-row door trim and décor flow seamlessly into the dash panel, creating an upscale cockpit; the door treatment is also mirrored in the second row. Available ambient lighting with 30 color choices pairs with innovative backlit dash décor featuring the model name to elevate the new design. Top-of-range models feature quilted leather seats with a diamond pattern.Comfort features get a boost as well. A heated steering wheel with shift paddles, ventilated front seats and a height-adjustable passenger seat are now standard fare, along with Climatronic automatic climate control and Voice Control. The center console is redesigned with a storage cubby underneath. Leather seating surfaces and heated rear seats are now available a trim line lower than previous models.
