In Barcelona people are out and about on Christmas Eve as mask wearing outdoors becomes compulsory in a bid to curb a growing wave of Covid-19 infections in the country. IMAGES
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announces it is lifting mask-wearing requirements for people fully vaccinated against Covid-19. "Anyone who is fully vaccinated can participate in indoor and outdoor activities, large or small, without wearing a mask or physical distancing," CDC director Rochelle Walensky says. SOUNDBITE
"Finally we can breathe!" On the Place de la République, Parisians welcome with relief a prefectural decree cancelling the obligation to wear a mask outdoors in Paris.
Commuters walk through Victoria station in London at rush hour, some wearing masks and some without, as the British government scraps legal mandates covering the wearing of masks.
