The Stella Vie, touted as the world's first solar-powered family car, was unveiled on Wednesday by Eindhoven University. The award-winning fully solar vehicle is the brainchild of Lightyear, Eindhoven University of Technology's "solar team." The car's ability to run in any city with an electric grid, means that it does not need any special infrastructure, long an obstacle for electric cars. Additionally, the car features independent in-wheel motors for each wheel, large indoor space for family use and large storage space due to the absence of a central engine.
This odd-looking solar powered vehicle was built by one elderly Chinese man, who had only one goal in mind. 64-year-old Wang Yongzhi built the car so that he and his wife Zhang Shuyan could travel through China on a budget. The solar-powered vehicle can cover a distance of over 120 miles with good sunlight and reach a speed of around 30 miles per hour, but the two-seater can also use gas as a backup when the weather is bad.

The roof and mirror caps are optionally available in black as well as Enigmatic Black or can provide an exciting contrast in Pepper White.Under the stylishly designed hood is the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo technology and a peak output of 131 kW/178 hp with a maximum torque of 280 Nm. Thus equipped, the energetic MINI Cooper S in the Resolute Edition stands for traditional sportiness and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h from a standstill in 6.8 seconds. Top speed is reached at 235 km/h. The vehicle's agile handling is supported by a 6-speed manual transmission as standard or a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with dual clutch as an option.

It is the world's first fully electric station wagon with a spacious, practical and innovative interior. With a generous 479-liter luggage space, which can be expanded to nearly 1,400 liters with the rear seats folded down, the MG5 Electric offers plenty of efficiency. Additionally, like the Marvel R Electric and ZS EV, the MG5 Electric will be available with the MG iSMART connectivity system which includes the smartphone app as standard.The front wheels are driven by an electric motor that produces 115 kW (156 hp) and 260 Nm of torque. The MG5 Electric is initially offered with a 61.1 kWh battery and a range of 400 km (WLTP). At a later stage, a version with a 50.3 kWh battery will also be available, providing a WLTP range of 320 km. Both battery-powered versions of the 100% electric station wagon will allow fast charging (AC) thanks to the 11 kW three-phase on-board charger.The MG5 Electric will arrive in MG Stores in the first quarter of 2022, with two trim levels (Comfort and Luxury) and starting prices for Europe of less than 30,000 euros.
