Myanmar rebels risk life and limb in DIY weapons factories

Almost two years after seizing power, Myanmar military has been unable to crush "People's Defence Force" militias that have sprung up to fight the coup, but many are forced into risky trial-and-error operations to churn out their own rockets, mines and mortars.

    Rakhine, Mar 11 (EFE/EPA).- Myanmar's military junta announced that it has removed the Arakan Army (AA) from its list of terrorist groups as it has ceased its terrorist activities and the measure aims to find a peaceful solution, state media reported on Thursday. The AA, has been fighting for greater autonomy for the western state of Rakhine and was put on the list last year. For the past few years it has maintained one of the main armed conflicts in the country, causing hundreds of civilian fatalities and the displacement of around 200,000.The AA has neither condemned the military coup, as dozens of other ethnic armed groups have, nor has it shown its support for the anti-junta protests.     Scientists have discovered the largest species that has the ability to regrow limbs. According to Business Insider, it's the alligator. Like lizards, young American gators can regrow their tails up to 9 inches. Prof. Kenro Kusumi is a co-senior study author and the director of Arizona State University's School of Life Sciences. Kusumi began studying gator regrowth after receiving a package in the mail that contained a deformed alligator tail in a pickle jar with ethanol. The tail was discolored, forked, and the scales were smaller than normal. Kusumi realized that the tail looked like it had been regrown.
