'The Just Energy Transition Partnership', a plan to fund South Africa's transition away from coal

Description

In South Africa, president Cyril Ramaphosa has signed a number of agreements to fund the country’s transition away from coal: A plan called, "The Just Energy Transition Partnership." This includes loans of 300 million Euros each from France and Germany’s development banks. These and other planned high-interest loans have some South Africans worried the country is snowballing its debt. FRANCE 24's correspondent in Cape Town, Nadine Therone explains.
