  • Nissan shows in-construction all-solid-state battery pilot line in Japan

Nissan showed its in-construction all-solid-state battery pilot line to members of the media at its Yokohama Plant in Kanagawa Prefecture. The pilot line is aimed to further promote development and innovative manufacturing technologies for the batteries.Under the Nissan Ambition 2030 long-term vision, Nissan aims to launch EVs equipped with the batteries by fiscal year 2028.All-solid-state batteries, which will be game-changers for EVs, have the potential for energy density approximately twice that of conventional lithium-ion batteries, significantly shorter charging time due to superior charge and discharge performance, and lower costs due to less expensive materials. Nissan plans to use all-solid-state batteries in a wide range of vehicle segments, including pickup trucks, making its EVs more competitive.Nissan is conducting wide ranging research and development, from molecular-level battery material research to electric vehicle development, and even city development using EVs as storage batteries. Utilizing this experience, Nissan is stepping up development with the goal of practical implementation.

  • 2024 Nissan JUKE N-Sport - Quality Check at NMUK Plant

For its mid-lifecycle refresh, Nissan is reintroducing a yellow exterior colour option on its Juke urban crossover in response to customer demand, following its popularity on the first generation Juke.As well as the introduction of the new yellow, Nissan's designers and engineers have made significant changes to the Juke's interior to elevate the ambience of life-on-board, with a redesigned centre console and instrument panel. The interior also benefits from new materials, trim and upgraded fit and finish. And the car's connectivity has been updated with a larger touchscreen and additional features. And the mid-life upgrades also sees the introduction of an additional grade called N-Sport, which emphasises the Juke's dynamic qualities both on exterior and interior details. The re-introduction of a yellow exterior paint option in the Juke range is a direct consequence of customers who had loved the yellow when it was introduced on the first generation Juke asking for it. The new yellow is different in hue to the shade on the previous generation of Juke. Compared to the one offered on the previous Juke, the new one is slightly paler, giving a more modern and impactful look. When specified in the new N-Sport trim, the new yellow's impact is heightened by the contrast of the yellow with the black roof, wheels door mirrors, wheel arch inserts, grille and A- and B-pillars. The overall effect elevates the Juke's natural visual impact, with an added splash of swagger and attitude.

  • Nissan unveils new approach to electrified powertrain development

Nissan unveiled its new approach to electrified powertrain development, which it calls “X-in-1”. Under the approach, core EV and e-POWER powertrain components will be shared and modularized, resulting in a 30% reduction, compared to 2019, in development and manufacturing costs by 2026.Through the X-in-1 approach, Nissan aims to further increase the competitiveness of its EV and e-POWER vehicles. Nissan has developed a 3-in-1 powertrain prototype, which modularizes the motor, inverter and reducer, which is planned for use in EVs. A 5-in-1 prototype, which additionally modularizes the generator and increaser, is planned for use in e-POWER vehicles. The X-in-1 approach, which covers 3-in-1, 5-in-1, and other possible variants, has been developed to enable EV and e-POWER core components to be produced on the same line.In 2010, Nissan became the first automaker to mass-market an EV, the Nissan LEAF. To continuously enhance its electrification technologies, Nissan has been carefully listening to its EV customers around the world. In 2016, Nissan launched its unique e-POWER electrified powertrain, utilizing its EV technology, which provides the same driving pleasure as an EV as it is 100% motor drive.
