Starting in April, wide-eyed delivery robots will be allowed to use Japan's roads to deliver food and parcels. FRANCE 24's Solange Mougin explains how this could help the country's ageing workforce. But first, Disney cuts 7,000 jobs in a bid to make its streaming business profitable. Plus, Alphabet's stock tumbles as its newly presented AI-powered search bot makes a mistake in a demo video.
Robots have become a more common sight on Japanese streets as tech companies run trials for automated deliveries of food and other daily necessities by the machines. A change in Japan's road safety laws, set to come into effect later this year, will allow self-driving delivery robots to navigate streets across Japan.

The first self-driving delivery robot roamed the streets of Austin during the city's SXSW festival, on Monday. The robot, produced by former Skype founders Starship, can deliver food, groceries and small packages for as little as $1 within a 1 mile radius. The six-wheeled robot is able to deliver items up to 3 miles over a period of up to 30 minutes while users are able to follow the robot's route via the smartphone app. The inventors feel confident that the robot's movements are safe for pedestrians and traffic. The delivery robot is already operational in over 60 cities in 5 different countries and its models have already traveled a combined 20,000 miles. How would you like to have a robot knocking at your door with your grocery delivery?
