Nurses and Ambulance workers in Britain are walking off the job today. Monday's strike is the largest by healthcare workers and is expected to put further strain on the NHS. Industrial action has affected Britain's health care sector since late last year. Workers have been demanding pay increases to grapple with the on-going cost of living crisis. Striking ambulance workers in England and Wales manned picket lines on Wednesday, escalating a pay dispute between the government and a host of public-sector staff, after nurses' strikes. Now, it's all workers that are walking out in strikes. Employees across the UK economy are demanding salary rises to match or beat decades-high inflation -- currently running at nearly 11 percent -- which is spurring the worst cost-of-living crisis in a generation. In the UK it’s the Royal Mail postal workers who are the latest to go on strike as the country faces a wave of industrial action. The strikers want their pay to rise with inflation, which is now at eleven point one percent.
A trade union on Monday warned of more strikes at the UK's largest container port if pay demands are not met, threatening to cause further disruptions to the supply chain. Workers at Felixstowe port in southeastern England began an eight-day strike over pay on Sunday, in the latest industrial action as decades-high inflation intensifies the country's cost-of-living crisis.
