  • The new Mercedes-Benz GLA Edition - car-wash function

The new Mercedes-Benz GLA, the eighth model to join the line-up, rounds off the current compact car generation from Mercedes-Benz. At the same time it represents the entry level into the brand's successful family of SUV models. The character has been significantly reinforced here compared with the previous model: the height of the new GLA, at 1611 millimetres (1616 with roof rails), exceeds that of its predecessor by more than ten centimetres. The correspondingly higher and characteristic SUV seating position also comes with more headroom in the first row. Legroom in the rear is likewise much more generous - even though the GLA is now one and a half centimetres shorter. Typical off-road design features include the upright front section, short overhangs at the front and rear, and protective cladding all round. 4MATIC models feature the Off-Road Engineering Package as standard. This comprises an additional driving program, a downhill driving assist function and an off-road animation in the media display, along with, in combination with MULTIBEAM LED headlamps, a special light function for off-road driving. The new Mercedes-Benz GLA makes a further step in terms of safety courtesy of its driving assistance systems with cooperative driver support. The enhanced functions of the Driving Assistance Package include, for example, the turning manoeuvre function, the emergency corridor function, the exit warning function alerting the driver to approaching cyclists or vehicles, and a warning when pedestrians are detected near zebra crossings. The GLA is able to react when the driver doesn't. Active Brake Assist is charged in many situations with applying autonomous braking to avoid a collision or to reduce its severity. The system can also brake at a speed of up to approx. 60 km/h for stationary vehicles and pedestrians crossing the road ahead. Depending on the situation this even prevents collisions up to a speed of 50 km/h. The new GLA is set to arrive at European dealerships in the spring of 2020.

  • Testing and Technology Centre Immendingen - Active Brake Assist - Congestion Emergency Braking Function

Immendingen has a key role in the development of the mobility of the future: this is where Mercedes-Benz Cars is consolidating its worldwide vehicle testing, including the further development of alternative drives such as hybrids and electric vehicles under the product and technology brand EQ. Future assistance systems and automated driving functions are also tested here. The Test and Technology Center Immendingen was officially opened in September 2018 after a construction time of around three and a half years. Immendingen is located in Baden-Württemberg, 130 kilometres to the south of Stuttgart and 40 kilometres to the north of Radolfzell on Lake Constance.

  • Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Safety Workshop - Active Brake Assist

Flexible, reliable and above all, safe: The new Sprinter, presented in 2018, embodies all these attributes to perfection. With the third generation of the iconic van, Mercedes-Benz Vans also underscores its role as an innovation driver and pioneer in the introduction of modern safety technologies in the large van segment. That's why the new Sprinter is also equipped with a whole range of optional safety and assistance systems which, until now, were reserved exclusively for Mercedes-Benz passenger car model series. Among them, the radar-based systems Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Brake Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist. The optional Parking Package with 360-degree camera makes a further contribution towards relieving stress on the driver. Crosswind Assist is, of course, on board as standard, making driving considerably safer at higher speeds e.g. on motorways. Advanced safety and assistance systems play a particularly important role in the large van segment. Vehicles used for commercial purposes are often in daily use, cover great distances and, despite their comparatively large dimensions, must remain controllable even in difficult situations. In order to be optimally prepared for the various transport tasks and driving profiles, the safety and assistance systems in the new Sprinter have been technologically optimised. Evolution in comparison to the passenger car sector includes, for example, adaptation to vehicle dimensions, handling parameters and trip profiles in everyday fleet life.
