Kuwait, Sep 30 (EFE / EPA) .- (Camera: Noufal Ibrahim) Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was sworn in on Wednesday as the new emir of Kuwait before the country's Parliament, a day after the announcement of the death of his predecessor, his half-brother Sabah al Ahmad al Sabah, who died on Tuesday at the age of 91 in the United States after months of illness.FOOTAGE OF KUWAIT.
The parliament applauds Kuwait's new emir Sheikh Meshal upon his arrival for his inauguration in Kuwait City. Officially taking over from his half-brother Sheikh Nawaf who passed away on December 16, Sheikh Meshal is expected to pull the country out of longstanding political paralysis and reform a bloated public sector that have turned Kuwait into one of the Gulf's most laggard states.
