I'd ask that question as a child but I was afraid of telling her: "Mum, I don’t identify as a girl, I feel more like a boy."I think that's why it took me so long to freely express how I felt or identified as". "I used to harm myself. I'd put my own body at risk. That led me down the path of self-destruction".
After months of training, participants in Miss Venezuela -- the country's most competitive beauty pageant -- get their hair styled while waiting for makeup artists to work their magic, as the queens prepare to appear in front of the judges in an atypical pre-recorded edition of the contest held with no audience due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Participants in the Miss Venezuela 2019 pageant take part in a rehearsal a couple of days before the contest, which for the first time will avoid mentioning contestants' waist, hip, and bust measurements.
Amidst the massive economic and political crisis, the Miss Venezuela pageant provides an escape for many citizens of the country. This year, the contest aims to move away from beauty stereotypes.
The Miss Trans Albania contest is now in its third year, with seven contestants taking part this year. But organisers say the transgender community is still facing more discrimination than the gay and lesbian community in Albania, and is calling for further awareness.
