When the first-ever Mustang GTD takes on the 73 curves of the Nürburgring, it will be targeting a sub-7-minute time thanks to active aerodynamic tech never before used on a street legal Ford car and illegal in GT3-class race cars. The heart of Mustang GTD’s aerodynamic performance is its Drag Reduction System, which uses a hydraulic system that can change the angle of the rear wing and activate flaps under the front of the car to find exactly the right balance between airflow for speed and downforce for grip, depending on performance conditions. When Mustang GTD tackles sharp turns and grip becomes more important than speed, the DRS closes the main wing element and flap to create an integrated airfoil to generate additional downforce on the rear of the vehicle, to help the GTD go faster through turns without losing grip. At the same time, the front underbody is shaped like a keel that helps evacuate incoming air through the front wheel wells and large fender louvers to create an area of lower pressure that acts like suction to help keep the front end stable through turns.
At the top of the range is the new Mustang Dark Horse, the ultimate expression of track capability.Featuring a higher-output 5.0-litre V8 engine with new camshafts and unique tuning, Mustang Dark Horse comes with a unique TREMEC six-speed manual transmission or the option of Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.A standard Performance Package provides increased track capability, with an auxiliary engine oil cooler, lightweight radiator and rear axle cooler providing additional endurance of high loads. A standard Torsen limited-slip differential also maximises available traction. Mustang Dark Horse also features a unique electronic drift brake, engineered for both novices and experts to improve their drift skills.Mustang Dark Horse benefits from unique chassis tuning, including larger rear anti-roll bars, heavy-duty front dampers, a front strut tower brace and rear K-brace, as well as 19 x 9-inch front and 19 x 9.5-inch rear wheels with Pirelli P Zero PZ4 tyres.
A completely new era in stock car racing is ushered in today as Ford unveils its all-new 2022 NASCAR Next Gen Mustang to the public in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Next Gen Mustang will compete in the NASCAR Cup Series starting next season. The new car, which has been under development for two years, is completely different from its predecessor – redesigned from the ground up. Unlike past versions, with the exterior being the only noticeable change, this model is built for the future, featuring flexibility for technological advances such as a hybrid or electric powertrain. The new race car more closely mirrors its Mustang production counterpart, which maintains its title as world’s best-selling sports car.
The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE is a real game changer: the hybrid powertrain is designed for maximum performance. It combines the AMG 2.0-litre turbo engine with an Electric Drive Unit (EDU) on the rear axle for a completely new driving experience. In addition to the clearly noticeable immediate thrust, the independent layout also ensures a balanced weight distribution – which benefits driving dynamics and handling in equal measure. Depending on the driving mode, the electric motor boosts power and torque according to the situation, for a particularly comfortable or performance-oriented driving experience. All-electric driving is also possible. The electric powertrain and the high-performance battery with 400 volts are AMG exclusive, in-house developments. Just like in Formula 1, the battery is specifically designed for fast power output and draw with innovative direct cooling of the cells. The electric range of 13 kilometres allows a practical operating radius, for example in the city or in residential areas. The combined system output is 500 kW (680 hp), the combined maximum system torque 1,020 Nm. These are new peak values for the C-Class.
