For the first time ever, Europe's second busiest rail line is closed on a weekday – causing disruptions for commuters in the Paris region and for tourists going to the airport. The RER B, a suburban rail line that links Charles de Gaulle airport with the French capital, is undergoing renovations, with the northern part of the line completely closed since Saturday. The French government conceded it would be a difficult day for travellers, but said it was a "necessary investment".
