EU interior ministers gathered in Brussels for an emergency meeting on Friday to try and ease resurgent tensions over illegal migration, after the fate of migrants rescued in the Mediterranean triggered a diplomatic spate between France and Italy.
Energy ministers from European Union countries hold emergency talks on Monday, as the bloc strives for a united response to Moscow's demand that European buyers pay for Russian gas in roubles or face their supply being cut off. Russia halted gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland last week after they refused to meet its demand to effectively pay in roubles. FRANCE 24's Dave Keating reports from Brussels.
Poland, Lithuania and Latvia are considering asking NATO to hold emergency talks amid a migration crisis at their borders with Belarus, Poland's prime minister said.
EU interior ministers meet to try and find consensus on how to help Afghanistan's neighbouring countries take in refugees fleeing the Taliban and prevent an influx of migrants comparable to 2015. The ministers are expected to approve a declaration that includes support for countries in the region to take in refugees from Afghanistan, which has been in Taliban hands since mid-August. IMAGES
