US President Joe Biden is expected to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the sidelines of a summit in San Francisco next month for "constructive" talks, the White House says. The White House says it had "warned" Iran after President Joe Biden said Tehran was threatening a significant attack on Israel over a strike that destroyed an Iranian consulate building in Damascus. SOUNDBITE
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan briefs the press following a phone call between Joe Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu during which the US president told his Israeli counterpart that he is "deeply concerned" about Israel potentially conducting military operations in Rafah, adding, "Israel has not presented us or the world with a plan for how or where they would safely move those civilians." The White House says the US is "definitely not pushing" the Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry to resign, after Washington said he should speed up a political transition. "That is not what we're doing, but we have underscored that now is the time to finalize a political court to help set Haiti on a path to a better future.
