The new Nissan X-Trail in Red Driving Video

Description

A fresh call to adventure has sounded in the medium-SUV segment with the arrival of the new-generation Nissan X-Trail, redesigned from the ground up to deliver even more family freedom. Thanks to the new Alliance CMF-C platform, which showcases advanced engineering, innovation and technology, the new X-Trail again raises the bar in its segment.Nissan’s new X-Trail is structurally more rigid, more aerodynamically efficient, introduces a host of new active and passive safety features, has a revised cabin layout with premium features and materials, and introduces a raft of new technical aids including ProPILOT and more standard additions to the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite. The all-new model, which shares engineering platforms with the bigger Qashqai, is slightly shorter than before (4680mm) but is wider (+20mm to 1840mm), taller (+15mm to 1725mm) and provides more rear leg room, with bigger-opening rear door apertures for easier rear access and egress. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2705mm.An all-LED slimline lighting package front and rear, with bright multi-reflector LEDs for high and low beam driving and wrap-round boomerang-shaped tail lighting, complements Nissan’s signature-V-motion brand identity across all models. Adaptive beam matrix lighting, which splits the headlight beams into 12 individually controlled segments, appears on Ti and Ti-L models.

Nissan is bringing the all-wheel drive strengths of its unique e-4ORCE technology to European ski slopes this winter, with the creation of an X-Trail e-4ORCE extensively modified for mountain rescue needs. The modifications to the X-Trail Mountain Rescue include the replacement of the wheels with snow tracks, giving confident traction on slippery pistes, while the rear seats have been removed to allow the installation of a stretcher, to allow the transportation of injured skiers to the nearest medical facility, and a seat for a medical professional.Externally, a bespoke roof rack has been added to carry an evacuation stretcher and snow shovels. A siren, flashing light bar and powerful lights have also been embedded to the X-Trail's roof, as well as lights on the hood. Wider fenders front and rear have been integrated to accommodate the tracks, while at the front the bumper has been enhanced to carry a winch. A reinforced towing hook has been added to the front and rear bumpers, while footboards have been included on the side to facilitate access as the X-Trail rides 23cm higher on its track than the road-going version. The development and construction of the X-Trail Mountain Rescue was conceived to highlight the advanced electrified twin-motor e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system with which the X-Trail is equipped. What sets the system apart from traditional mechanical systems is that it can react to changing levels of grip in 1/10,000th of a second, approximately 1000 times quicker than a traditional all-wheel drive system, and it can adjust the distribution of power to the wheels individually, according to the available grip. The occupants will be blissfully unaware that the e-4ORCE system is working so effectively to provide traction in all conditions, allowing peace of mind as they travel on wet urban, leafy suburban, muddy country or snowy mountain roads. The X-Trail Mountain Rescue is supporting a campaign in five European ski resorts under the banner of "Ride Responsibly". Nissan will promote courteous slope etiquette with the placement of digital signs which encourage snow riders to slow down where different slopes meet to reduce the risk of collision. Similar to road-side signs that display a vehicle's speed, the signs will monitor the speed of approaching riders and show "Thank You" for those who are approaching at a considerate speed, or "Slow Down" if their speed is judged as excessive. The X-Trail Mountain Rescue will be displayed in a glass box at the popular Italian ski resort of Cervinia.

Full power on snow and ice: With its advanced e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system, Nissan has started an electrifying test drive through the Pyrenees and three countries. The drive concept specially developed for the electrified Nissan models, which uses electric motors on each axle, guarantees safe and reassuring driving behavior in every situation.Whether at the dawn of spring in the Alps, in the hot summer through southern Europe, on windy and leaf-covered roads in English autumn or through the slippery and freezing winter landscape of Bavaria: Nissan e-4ORCE technology masters all seasons with flying colors.Even the toughest conditions are no problem for the all-wheel drive offered for the electrified X-Trail and the all-electric Ariya: Nissan has conquered the snowy mountains in the Pyrenees and completed laps on the world's highest permanent racetrack in Andorra at 2,400 meters - impressive proof of the excellent handling and maximum control that the e-4ORCE offers even under extreme winter conditions. In order to guarantee safety and driving pleasure in everyday life, the Nissan engineers have concentrated on three core elements during development: the management of the electric motors, the all-wheel drives and chassis control technologies. The use of two electric motors eliminates the cardan shaft that is necessary with conventional mechanical all-wheel drive systems. A differential is also superfluous. This results in new creative freedom and more space in the interior.
