    Nissan unveiled its new approach to electrified powertrain development, which it calls “X-in-1”. Under the approach, core EV and e-POWER powertrain components will be shared and modularized, resulting in a 30% reduction, compared to 2019, in development and manufacturing costs by 2026.Through the X-in-1 approach, Nissan aims to further increase the competitiveness of its EV and e-POWER vehicles. Nissan has developed a 3-in-1 powertrain prototype, which modularizes the motor, inverter and reducer, which is planned for use in EVs. A 5-in-1 prototype, which additionally modularizes the generator and increaser, is planned for use in e-POWER vehicles.The X-in-1 approach, which covers 3-in-1, 5-in-1, and other possible variants, has been developed to enable EV and e-POWER core components to be produced on the same line.In 2010, Nissan became the first automaker to mass-market an EV, the Nissan LEAF. To continuously enhance its electrification technologies, Nissan has been carefully listening to its EV customers around the world. In 2016, Nissan launched its unique e-POWER electrified powertrain, utilizing its EV technology, which provides the same driving pleasure as an EV as it is 100% motor drive.

    Nissan’s modified Ariya e-4ORCE prepares to embark on the world-first electric expedition from the magnetic North Pole to the South Pole.Arctic Trucks, a specialist in polar expedition vehicles, has collaborated with Nissan design and engineering teams to prepare the expedition Ariya for conditions that will include ice fields, deep snow, mountain climbs and desert dunes.Modified with a custom rugged exterior fit, the expedition Ariya is complete with raised suspension and flared wheel arches to accommodate large tires and additional body kit. In preparation for protection against some of the world's most extreme conditions, the Ariya will be embarking on its toughest test to date and breaking new ground.Staying true to the Ariya’s already formidable form, modifications to the car have been intentionally minimal. The expedition car has kept its original battery-electric powertrain and features the dual-motor setup with Nissan’s innovative and unique all-wheel drive system, e- 4ORCE developed exclusively for electric and electrified powertrains.The most noticeable changes are the increased suspension and massive 39-inch off-road tyres, fitted to ensure the expedition Ariya can tackle the most grueling conditions and terrains. Alongside a stunning exterior design and a welcoming lounge-like interior, the vehicle has been fitted with a built-in espresso machine to keep British adventurer, Chris and his wife Julie in the necessary comfort on their journey to reach the South Pole.

  • Max Out Unveil - Nissan Futures showcases innovations in sustainable mobility

    Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. will hold Nissan Futures, an event showcasing how Nissan is shaping the future of sustainable mobility and innovative design, at its Global Headquarters Gallery in Japan from Feb. 4 to Mar. 1.As part of the event launch, Nissan unveiled a physical concept model of its Max-Out EV convertible. The model was previously shown in virtual form as part of the Nissan Ambition 2030 vision announced in November 2021 under the Nissan Futures banner. The Max-Out—which will be on display for the duration of the event—embodies Nissan’s ambition to support greater access to both sustainable and innovative mobility.Nissan Futures will feature interactive customer events, panel discussions with experts, and various displays, all aimed to exhibit its innovations in electrification, vehicle intelligence, power management, vehicle battery reuse, and more. The events and panel discussions will also be available to attend virtually.Event display and content information is available on the Nissan global corporate website and will be showcased on its YouTube and LinkedIn channels.   • 2022 Nissan Townstar EV Exterior Design

    Nissan has started production of the Townstar EV. The all-electric variant of the new compact van is based on Allianz's CMF-C platform and is manufactured at the center of excellence for vans in Maubeuge, France.With the Townstar EV, Nissan is taking another important step towards realizing the Nissan Ambition 2030 and the company's goal of being carbon neutral by 2050. The model is coming to Europe this fall, building on the success of the Nissan e-NV200. Nissan leverages its experience in the electric light commercial vehicle (e-LCV) segment and has further expanded its strengths in the areas of performance, reliability and sustainability.The all-electric variant of the Townstar has an optimized powertrain with intelligent energy management and battery cooling. Thanks to its aerodynamic body elements and the associated efficiency, the Townstar can achieve a range of over 300 kilometers (according to WLTP) depending on the equipment line. The electric motor has an output of 90 kW/122 hp and develops 245 Nm of torque. The 45 kWh battery can be charged with AC (11 kW or 22 kW) or with DC via the CCS connector. The latter enables charging from 15 to 80 percent in just 37 minutes.The Townstar is characterized by a fresh and modern design in the current Nissan style. The tailor-made front apron features an intricate kumiko pattern that reflects the model's Japanese DNA and gives the vehicle a high-quality character.In the interior, customer satisfaction and ergonomics come first. More than 20 technologies, including a 10-inch digital instrument display and integrated connectivity services, make the Townstar EV the most advanced van in the brand's LCV portfolio.
