President Donald Trump's campaign is still seeking donations from voters, even though Trump himself has all but admitted he lost to Joe Biden. But donors should know that 75% of every contribution is now being routed to Trump's newly-established leadership PAC, Save America, up to $5000. Anything over $5000 goes to Trump's Recount Account. Also, 25% of all donations go to the Republican National Committee. These funds could be used to finance Trump's life--or his legal bills--or his family's legal bills-- after he leaves office. It could even go toward a possible 2024 presidential bid. And according to Business Insider, all of these would be legal. Despite the Trump administration's decision to begin the transfer of power, Trump's personal plans for life after January 20, 2021, remain unclear.
Confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney-Barrett may be put on the back burner for the time being. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called for a halt of the proceedings after two Senate Judiciary Committee members tested positive for COVID-19. GOP Senators Thom Tillis and Mike Lee said Friday they had tested positive for the virus after President Trump announced his diagnosis. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell indicated the process would move forward as expected after Lee revealed his diagnosis. However, Business Insider reports McConnell has not commented since Sen. Tillis's announcement.
The House panel that investigated last year's attack on the US Capitol recommends that criminal charges be filed against former president Donald Trump. The committee unanimously recommended that the Justice Department charge Trump with inciting an insurrection, obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiring to defraud the US government and making false statements. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo won't be making a final lap around Europe after all. His European was scrapped on Tuesday after Luxembourg's foreign minister and European Union officials refused to meet with him. According to Business Insider, a series of diplomats snubbed Pompeo. One diplomatic source says that America's European allies were 'embarrassed' by the deadly riot at the Capitol last week. A day after the siege, Asselborn publicly called President Donald Trump a 'criminal' and a 'political pyromaniac who should be sent to criminal court.'
