Inflation-driven pay disputes are causing Christmas disruption to French trains and to British airports, post deliveries and health services.
Massive protests against pension reform in France enter their second week with no end in sight. This Monday in Paris, a record traffic jam of 630km just north of the city. Only two automated metro lines are fully running, with the rest partially or fully disturbed. But commuters are concerned about their Christmas plans with transport issues so close to the festive period.
Nurses and ambulances staff stepped up their demands for better pay Monday to combat the UK's cost of living crisis with their biggest round of health service strikes. The stoppages -- part of a wave of industrial action across the UK economy -- will see nurses and paramedics take action on the same day for the first time.
