Mercedes‑Benz is returning to IAA Mobility from September 5 to 10 and is once again defining class with the world premiere of the new Concept CLA Class, the forerunner of a new model family at the gateway to Mercedes‑Benz. In the age of electric mobility and digitalisation, this concept car demonstrates the company’s vision to elevate the segment through aesthetic and extraordinary design, long-range efficiency, pioneering innovation, sustainable materials and an entirely new operating system, MB.OS.
Mercedes-Benz Group AG CEO Ola Källenius unveiled the forerunner to a whole new model family today at the Mercedes-Benz Pavilion on Apothekenhof at the Munich Residence in the centre of the city. In the age of electric and digital innovation, this concept car defines the company’s vision to elevate the vehicle portfolio at the gateway to the brand. Based on the new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), it makes its mark through long-range efficiency, pioneering innovation, a beautiful and extraordinary aesthetic, sustainable materials and an entirely new operating system, MB.OS.
Mercedes-Benz opens its first high-power charging stations this fall, implementing its far-reaching plans to expand its global charging infrastructure. Starting in October, the first Mercedes-Benz Charging Hubs will go into operation in Atlanta (USA), Chengdu (China) and Mannheim (Germany). By the end of 2024, Mercedes-Benz aims to further expand its global charging network to over 2,000 high-power charging points. The long-term goal is to create more than 2,000 Charging Hubs with over 10,000 charging points by the end of the decade. With this charging network, Mercedes-Benz sets new standards for fast, convenient and sustainable charging of electric vehicles. Depending on region, the charging stations offer charging rate of currently up to 400 kW, provided via the respective standard charging systems CCS1, CCS2, NACS and GB/T. Thanks to intelligent charging management, each vehicle can be charged at its maximum power rating. This reduces the charging time for customers to an absolute minimum.
Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck have been undergoing intensive testing since last year – both on Daimler Truck’s in-house test track and on public roads. At the IAA Transportation 2022, Daimler Truck will be offering selected visitors a ride-along in one of its fuel-cell trucks. In doing so, the truck manufacturer demonstrates the practicality of a fully loaded 40-ton hydrogen truck on public roads. Just in time for the start of the IAA, H2 MOBILITY Germany thereby enables hydrogen refueling at a Shell station in Laatzen near the trade fair grounds in Hannover.The fuel station provides green and thus CO2-neutral hydrogen. The Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck prototype has a license for road use and is powered and refueled with gaseous hydrogen. At the Mercedes-Benz Trucks booth in Hall 19/20 at the IAA Transportation 2022 in Hannover, Daimler Truck also exhibits a GenH2 Truck prototype with liquid hydrogen tanks.
Their highlight at this year’s trade fair is the first presentation of the battery-electric long-distance truck eActros LongHaul from Mercedes-Benz Trucks. Mercedes-Benz Trucks will also be showcasing other battery-powered truck innovations – such as the new eActros 300 tractor unit or the eAtego for the medium-duty segment. The FUSO Next Generation eCanter is also celebrating its European premiere. We are also showcasing the next generation of Setra TopClass and ComfortClass touring coaches for the first time.
