"At least 345 executions" have been reported in Iran this year, says the spokesperson for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UN OHCHR), Liz Throssell, during a press briefing in Geneva. Among them were 15 women, she adds. SOUNDBITE

The United States calls the death of six-year-old Gaza girl Hind Rajab, who days earlier had pleaded for help, "heartbreaking" and urges a prompt Israeli investigation. "It is just a devastating account, a heartbreaking account, for this child, and of course there have been thousands of other children who have died as a result of this conflict," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller tells reporters, adding, "We have asked the Israeli authorities to investigate this incident on an urgent basis."
