The United States does not want a war with Iran but must respond to an "escalatory" drone strike in Jordan that killed three troops, the White House says. "We are not looking for a war with Iran," National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby tells reporters, adding however that the attack "was escalatory, make no mistake about it, and it requires a response." The United States is working to facilitate another deal on the release of hostages seized by Hamas and held in Gaza, but "imminent developments" are unlikely, the White House says. "We are hopeful about the progress but I do not expect, we should not expect any imminent developments," US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby tells reporters at a press briefing. The United States hails the EU-British deal to regulate trade rules for Northern Ireland as a chance to "improve the prosperity" across the region, John Kirby, National Security Council spokesman, tells reporters.
