Santiago de Chile, Sep 11 (EFE).- Social organizations, human rights associations and political parties commemorated Saturday 48 years of the coup that overthrew former Chilean President Salvador Allende (1970-1973) and began the bloody civic-military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990).After marching through the streets surrounding the Palacio de La Moneda, the protesters laid floral offerings at the door of the Government headquarters, where the body of former president Salvador Allende was taken after the military assault on Sep 11, 1973.
