Palestinian foreign minister Riyad al-Maliki accuses Israel of "war crimes" at a UN Security Council session after its nearly week-long offensive. "Some may not want to use these words -- war crimes and crimes against humanity -- but they know they are true," Maliki tells the virtual session on the crisis. SOUNDBITE
"There are reasonable grounds" to believe that Israel has committed "the crime of genocide against Palestinians," says the UN's special rapporteur on the rights situation in the Palestinian Territories. Speaking during a press conference in Geneva, Francesca Albanese says "Israel has committed three acts of genocide with the requisite intent." SOUNDBITE
"We are concerned that war crimes are being committed. We are concerned about the collective punishment of Gazans in response to the atrocious attacks by Hamas, which also amounted to war crimes," UN human rights office spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani says during a press conference in Geneva.
