Thousands of protesters flooded the streets of London on Friday to protest against police brutality under the Black Lives Matter slogan following the deadly shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile in the United States last week. Demonstrators blocked traffic at the capital's Oxford Circus high street, before marching to the BBC headquarters and the American embassy.

Environmental activist Greta Thunberg arrives at a London court for the opening of a two-day trial on charges of public order offences linked to a demonstration against the energy industry. The 21-year-old Swedish activist pleaded not guilty to the charges at an initial hearing in November 2023, as did four other activists who appeared with her. IMAGES
