Strikes on the northern Gaza Strip are seen from the Israeli town of Sderot, as the Israeli military vowed to intensify bombardments. The health ministry in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip said on Tuesday that 5,791 people had been killed in the territory since the outbreak of the war with Israel, when Hamas militants stormed into Israel from Gaza on October 7, killing at least 1,400 people and taking more than 220 hostages, according to Israeli officials.
