They say their efforts to quell conflicts with the M23 and other armed groups in eastern DR Congo have failed.On Friday, more than 5,000 people attended a mass burial for 10 protesters killed during recent anti-UN demonstrations in the city of Goma.

  • Senegalese army seizes cannabis fields and rebel forest bases

    Senegalese soldiers have taken control of several hectares of cannabis fields after a successful mission to capture rebel bases in the southern Casamance region. Troops deployed in the region supported by forces from neighbouring Guinea-Bissau, as fighting flared up in a long-dormant independence conflict.
