Thousands of people on Thursday marched in Jerusalem's Pride parade — an annual event that took place for the first time under Israel’s new far-right government, which is stacked with openly homophobic members.
Israel's top trade union chief called a general strike Monday over the hard-right government's controversial judicial reforms, a day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sacked his defence minister who had called for a stop to the overhaul.
The ceasefire agreement came into effect on Friday, closing the worst round of violence since 2014, which has killed at least 230 Palestinians and 12 Israelis.

Israelis march through Jerusalem to parliament to protest against the government's budget proposal. Ahead of the budget votes beginning late May 23 and continuing May 24, the drum-beating demonstrators, bearing Israeli flags, accused the ruling coalition of "looting" the state's money. IMAGES
