Phnom Penh evicts floating houses near Mekong, Tonle Sap Rivers

Phnom Penh, Jun 16(EFE/EPA).- Residents in Phom Pehn dismantled Wednesday their floating houses and fish farms along the Mekong and Tonle Sap Rivers surrounding the capital city of Phnom Penh after the deadline of an order issued by the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration to remove or relocate the illegal structures.The authorities cited damage to the biodiversity and environmental pollution to the river as reasons for the removal of the structures.
