Santa Cruz de La Palma, Spain, Oct 5 (EFE).- Some 250,000 tons of sulfur dioxide (SO2) have been expelled into the air since the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma started erupting on September 19, the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands (Involcan) reported.The volume of gas is possibly higher due to the limitations of the equipment being used to measure emissions, Involcan added.FOTAGE OF THE VOLCANO.

The top speed of the new BRABUS supercar is electronically limited to 316 km/h (196 mph).The car’s outstanding performance is accompanied by spectacular looks and highly efficient aerodynamics. More than 1,000 people have been evacuated in the Spanish regions of Valencia (south-east) and Aragon (north-east) where forest fires have already burnt some 900 hectares, according to local authorities. Four hundred firefighters, rescue workers and military personnel, fifteen planes, seaplanes and helicopters worked to extinguish the flames, according to the Valencia rescue service. A nearby field hospital was set up and the Red Cross opened a reception centre for evacuees in a gymnasium in the town of Segorbe.
