Bolivia vows to control coca cultivation following 15% increase in 2020

Description

La Paz, Aug 31 (EFE).- The Bolivian government promised Tuesday to resume the control of coca cultivation to prevent their expansion, after the United Nations reported an increase in these plantations in 2020, a situation in which the national authorities blamed the temporary administration of Jeanine Áñez. Coca cultivation in Bolivia increased 15 percent in 2020, going from 25,500 hectares in 2019 to 29,400 hectares last year, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) reported.
