Berlin, Aug 28 (EFE/EPA).- German riot police officers on Saturday tried to break up an unauthorized protest against the COVID-19 measures in Berlin. A series of unannounced rallies against COVID-19 measures have been recorded in recent weeks, including a protest by 'Querdenken 711', a protest group made up of anti-vaxxers, conspiracy theory supporters and far-right groups. Germany has been easing lockdown measures since late April but social-distancing rules remain in place, as does a requirement to wear masks on public transport and in shops.
From health passes to vaccine mandates, protesters were out in force this weekend.
The 7-day rolling average of new daily cases edged slightly lower over the past week to 85.55 new cases per 100,000 people.
Sunday's protests at the Mont des Arts in Brussels gathered a significant crowd, while prominent cultural figures took to the stage to air their grievances against measures they claim will stifle the cultural sector.
