Dahi-Handi celebrations in Mumbai despite coronavirus restrictions

Mumbai, Aug 31 (EFE/EPA).- The Maharashtra government declined permission to celebrate Dahi-Handi celebrations during the Janmashtami Festival in Mumbai. Despite the restrictions, hindu devotees gathered to create human pyramids to reach and break a 'Dahi-handi' (curd-pot).A pot is suspended high above the ground and young men and children form a human pyramid to reach the pot and break it. The festival celebrates the birth of the Hindu god Lord Krishna, one of the most popular gods in Hinduism.
