The river Seine remained flooded after torrential downpours further upstream continued to cause disruption to transportation across Paris on Wednesday. Roads and tunnels near the river were closed. The Paris Regional C train (RER C) line was partially shut down. All river traffic, including cruise boats, was suspended because the raised water levels means they are unable to pass beneath the bridges. Some residents were forced to use a small boat to get to work, as roads and walkways near the riverbanks have become flooded.
The worst flooding in over a century has caused the Seine river in Paris to rise to over 6 meters. This exceptional weather has forced the closure of the iconic Louvre museum.
