Vote centers open in LA county ahead of California gubernatorial recall election

Los Angeles, Sep 7 (EFE/EPA).- More polling stations in Los Angeles county opened Tuesday for people to cast their vote on whether or not they choose to remove the governor of California, Democrat Gavin Newsom.In case the "yes" exceeds 50 percent, citizens must vote for an alternative candidate, who can be either a Democrat or Republican.The recall campaign against Newsom achieved most signatures between late 2020 and early 2021, when the governor imposed drastic measures to curb a wave of the pandemic, making California the state with the most deaths in the country, with more than 60,000 deaths.
