Automobili Lamborghini unveils the Countach LPI 800-4: a futuristic limited edition paying homage to the Countach’s iconic status as a revolutionary design and technology rule-breaker and recreated for the 21st century.Its puristic lines are immediately recognizable from the Countach legacy: the patriarch of modern super sports cars and Lamborghini design. With its aspirated V12 engine combined with Lamborghini’s hybrid supercapacitor technology, the Countach LPI 800-4 retains the inimitable V12 experience and sound from its Longitudinale Posteriore (LP) mounted powerplant combined with the hybrid (I) technology developed for the Sián. Delivering 814 cv as maximum combined power (rounded at 800 in the name) from its aspirated powerplant (780 cv) and electric motor (34 cv) to its permanent four-wheel drive transmission, the LPI 800-4 produces peak Lamborghini performance of 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 2.8 seconds, a 0-200 km/h in 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 355 km/h.
As the 112 Countach LPI 800-4 owners-to-be around the world start to take delivery of their new cars from April 2022, they are also enjoying a series of exclusive ownership and experiential elements to mark ownership of a car that is one of the most emblematic few-offs in the history of Lamborghini.Lamborghini’s commitment to the purchasing experience is, as always, more than just waiting for delivery of a new car, and has created a contact program designed to make the customer experience unique and complete.The 112 owners of the Countach LPI 800-4, which was already sold out before the official launch last August at Pebble Beach, will not only have the privilege of driving a piece of automotive history reinvented for the future, but will also receive a series of special collectors’ item gifts, which make delivery of the car even more memorable. Each item is certified and numbered, celebrating skilled craftsmanship and innovation: the items are not for sale, and are dedicated and delivered exclusively to Countach LPI 800-4 customers.
Warehouse Terrada in Tokyo was the setting for the unveiling of the Countach LPI 800-4 in Japan on the occasion of the first deliveries to customers. To mark the link with this model’s past history, a 1989 Countach 25th Anniversary was on display alongside the LPI 800-4. The event was exclusive to 90 members of the local press, who had the opportunity to interview Francesco Scardaoni, Region Director for Asia Pacific, Davide Sfrecola, Head of Lamborghini Japan, and Mitjia Borkert, Head of Design at Automobili Lamborghini. The Countach LPI 800-4 was then brought to the streets of Tokyo and photographed in front of some of the capital city’s most famous districts and buildings. The Countach LPI 800-4 is a futuristic limited-edition car produced in 112 units that pays tribute to the original Countach, a non-conformist icon of revolutionary design and technology that celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. The LPI 800-4 is a tribute to Lamborghini’s glorious heritage, but not in retrospect. Rather, it represents the idea of what could have been the evolution of the iconic Countach of the Seventies and Eighties into an exclusive and contemporary super sports car model.
For the first time since its unveiling at Pebble Beach on August 13, the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 is taking to the road. On this special occasion, the brand-new super sports car was accompanied by two of its most important predecessors: the first Countach LP 400 and the last Countach 25th Anniversary produced. The dynamic debut together with two protagonists of the company’s historic collection provided extraordinary and unprecedented images. The Countach LPI 800-4 produces a total output of 814 hp; it is powered by a Lamborghini 6.5-liter V12 engine, delivering 780 hp, combined with a 48-volt electric motor mounted directly on the gearbox, which provides an additional 34 hp of power for instant response and increased performance. The electric motor is powered by a supercapacitor that provides three times more power than a lithium-ion battery of equal weight.
What does it mean to be an icon? And above all, is there a magic formula for becoming one? The Lamborghini Countach is by definition one of the most iconic models in the company’s history and of the automotive world in general. In a year that saw the reconstruction of the first Countach, the LP 500, by the Polo Storico, and the presentation of its contemporary version, the Countach LPI 800-4, the tribute to Lamborghini's heritage in which visionary design meets future technology; the celebrations dedicated to its 50th anniversary came to a close with a talk on excellence followed by immersive and experiential activities to help people discover and experience the world of Centro Stile and Polo Storico Lamborghini.
