Rudninkai, Aug 3 (EFE / EPA) .- A group of migrants protested Monday against the living conditions in the overcrowded migrant detention center located in a former Rudninkai air base, in Lithuania.Lithuanian authorities reported that nearly 400 people crossed from Belarus in the 24-hour period ending Monday morning, most of them identifying themselves as Iraqis.In a joint press conference with Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte, European Home Affairs Commissioner Yilva Johansson said that the flow of people crossing the border represents a deliberate provocation by the regime of Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.Johansson announced that up to 100 employees from the EU border control agency Frontex, as well as asylum specialists, will arrive in Lithuania.Furthermore, Europol will investigate whether criminal groups are involved in helping people cross the border between Belarus and Lithuania. Vydeniai, Aug 2 (EFE/EPA).- Around 3,800 people were transferred Monday to an immigration detention center in Vydeniai, Lithuania, after crossing the border from Belarus in the last 24 hours, most of them identifying themselves as Iraqis.The new figures brought the number of irregular migrants in the Baltic country in recent weeks to about 4,000.
