On the outskirts of the Greek capital of Athens, firefighting helicopters drop water on blazes as they struggle to tame deadly wildfires burning through the country for a sixth day. So far, 20 people have been killed in the blazes. IMAGES
A brand new fire extinguishing system called Zver (the Russian word for "beast"), developed by engineers from the SOPOT company, was filmed in St. Petersburg on Wednesday. The new technology extinguishes fires with a highly adhesive foam that attaches onto then freezes object which are in flames.

Firefighting helicopters drop water on a fire on Greece's Mount Parnitha near Athens, in the largest forest adjoining the capital, threatening a national park for a second day. A fire department spokesman told state television ERT there was an "explosion of fire" in a forest ravine early on August 24 that renewed the threat to inhabited areas. IMAGES
