Brussels, Mar 13 (EFE) .- (Camera: Leo Rodríguez) The church of San Juan Bautista, erected in the seventeenth century in the heart of Brussels, has been converted four times into a scene of protest by undocumented people to fight for its regularization in Belgium. Since January, the temple welcomes almost 200 people who fight again to stop being "ghost citizens".FOOTAGE OF THE INTERIOR OF THE CHURCHSOUNDBITES OF IMMIGRANTS1.- Neza- We are fed up with being considered clandestine, we are not clandestine, we are not criminals. We are workers without papers, that is why we are here, to ask for our regularization. Have freedom of movement.- We are fully integrated into Belgian society. We are not on the sidelines, we are not criminals, integration is real.- What we ask is to have a residence card so that we can move freely and work honestly and with dignity. We are fed up with landlords taking advantage of us. We work hard for a very low salary, 4 or 5 euros.- The Belgian State has asked us to pay for our transport pass with our bank card. Most of us here do not have a bank account since we do not have papers. It is a delusion, what do they want? That we commit suicide? We want to live like the others. Put yourself in our shoes, we are capable and brave women who really want to work. We do not want to take advantage of the Belgian State, it is the State that takes advantage of us.2.- Halima-We do not want to remain as ghost citizens. How long are we going to live "in black"? How long are we going to work "in black"? Until when? We are workers, I myself have not stopped working since I arrived in Belgium.-We need to work. We cannot just sit in the street and ask people who pass by for money.3.- Hussein-The person responsible for this church, Father Daniel, is a militant who has always supported the struggle of refugees and the undocumented. On the other hand we choose places that are safe for us, we know that the police cannot come to kick us out of the church.

Several thousand undocumented migrants and supporters took part in a 'solidarity march' despite a ban by the police prefecture, to call for the "regularisation" of undocumented migrants who, according to them, have "suffered the most from the health crisis".
