Description

San Salvador, Jun 8 (EFE).- A Salvadoran woman serving a 30-year prison term for allegedly aborting the fetus she was carrying demanded justice Tuesday for other women who were accused and imprisoned in cases similar to hers.Sara Rogel was released Monday after El Salvador's Public Ministry reported that it would not appeal the ruling because "there are no elements on which to base the said appeal. She was sentenced to 30 years behind bars in September 2013 and had her sentence commuted last January, meaning that her sentence was reduced to 10 years, according to what her lawyer Karla Vaquerano told reporters on Monday. They have stayed there and I want justice to be served in this country, because there are many people (women) behind those bars who suffer like I do. They have lost their children, their families were taken away from them and I want justice for them as well as for me. They are innocent, they have only been victims of the laws of this country.
