Grigny's mayor chosen as "the best in the world"

Description

Grigny (France), Sep 17 (EFE) .- (Camera: Antonio Torres) The best mayor in the world in 2021 is in Grigny, the poorest city in France. In an interview with EFE, communist Philippe Rio trusts that the distinction recognized by his work, recently awarded, will make it possible to make more visible "municipal policies with a human and ecological face."The honorary award is given each year by the progressive City Mayors Foundation, based in London.FOOTAGE FROM GRIGNY'S MAYORSOUNDBITES FROM PHILIPPE RIO, THE WORLD'S BEST MAYOR ACCORDING TO THE CITY MAYORS FOUNDATION.Translation:1.- "It rewards municipalism with a human and ecological face. Throughout the world, mayors and their teams mobilize with sincerity and commitment to improve the lives of their neighbors."2.- "We are the most fragile city in France, my colleagues around the world know it, socially fragile cities have been hit harder than other areas (...) Where poverty was already present, the covid has thrown us out to the canvas, but we have been able to react because we are used to managing crises, social, economic, housing, and we have managed to come out with our solidarity "3.- "The debate on the police is totally polarized, we cannot speak calmly in France about security and the police. I appeal to national reconciliation, we will continue to say that the police are not good, there is police violence, and the another side is insecurity. Between these two extremes, can we find the path of trust? We have the right to have a police force that does its job well and a population that respects it "
