Rallye Weiz, fifth round of the Austrian Championship, saw the competition world premiere of a revolutionary rally car. With multiple Austrian rally champion Raimund Baumschlager at the wheel, the fully electric ŠKODA RE-X1 Kreisel took on conventionally driven Rally2 cars. Homologated with a power output of 260 kW, the concept car based on a ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo chassis was on par right from the start. In the end, Baumschlager and co-driver Jürgen Heigl finished an impressive third overall.
ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo crews dominated categories WRC2 and WRC3 during the first leg of Acropolis Rally Greece (9-12 September 2021), ninth round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). After six stages, South-Americans Marco Bulacia/Marcelo Der Ohannesian (BOL/ARG) lead Andreas Mikkelsen/Elliott Edmondson (NOR/GBR), both of ŠKODA Motorsport supported team Toksport WRT. 2019 FIA European Rally Champions Chris Ingram/Ross Whittock (GBR/GBR) fended of Kajetan Kajetanowicz/Maciej Szczepaniak (POL/POL) and Emil Lindholm/Reeta Hämäläinen (FIN/FIN) in the fight for WRC3 lead.
ŠKODA crews dominated category WRC3 and collected valuable championship points in WRC2 during Rally Croatia (23-25 April 2021), third round of the FIA World Rally Championship. Kajetan Kajetanowicz/Maciej Szczepaniak (POL/POL) won WRC3 in LOTOS Rally Team’s ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo followed by Emil Lindholm/Mikael Korhonen (FIN/FIN) in a similar car from Toksport WRT. The two crews of ŠKODA Motorsport supported team Toksport WRT in WRC2, Marco Bulacia/Marcelo Der Ohannesian (BOL/ARG) and Andreas Mikkelsen/Ola Fløene (NOR/NOR), reached the finish after 20 stages covering 300.32 kilometres in category third and fifth respectively.
Even though the Skoda Fabia RS Rally is a sophisticated rally car down to the last nut and bolt, it has a lot in common with the production Fabia. Let’s compare the two cars.Customers can buy the fourth-generation Fabia in the stylish and sporty Monte Carlo version shown here in the photos, for example. And professional rally drivers can get the all-new Fabia RS Rally2 from Škoda Motorsport. That’s one of the things the production and racing models have in common – you can become the proud owner of both. Only the price is different. While the Fabia Monte Carlo is one of the most affordable Škoda cars, at more than ten times the price the Fabia RS Rally2 is the most expensive thing you can buy from the Czech carmaker. But despite the price difference, the two cars have a lot in common. One clear link between the two models is the body design and structure. “The rules are strict and require that the rally car’s bodywork is identical to the production car’s. The only exception to this is the ability to extend the car with fenders and bumpers. We can add spoilers and we can build a tunnel for the 4 × 4 drive into the floor,” explains Alesrada, head of Race Car Engineering at Škoda Motorsport. The rally car benefits from the rigid bodywork of the production type, which puts both cars among the top safety performers in their category.
