Thousands of people massed in France's capital on Thursday to protest President Emmanuel Macron's government imposing a controversial pensions overhaul without a parliament vote.
Uncollected rubbish mounted in the streets of Paris on Wednesday and hundreds of thousands of people marched in last-gasp protests against French President Emmanuel Macron's pension reform which is set to go before parliament. A rolling strike by municipal garbage collectors in the capital has seen an estimated 7,000 tonnes of trash pile up in unsightly mounds, attracting rats and dismaying tourists.

Protesters are trying to pressure lawmakers to bring down the government and doom the unpopular retirement age increase President Macronis trying to impose without a vote in the National Assembly.
People took to the streets across France on Saturday after President Emmanuel Macron imposed an unpopular pension overhaul without a parliament vote. Macron's government on Thursday invoked a controversial executive power to force through the bill by decree, which is legal according to the constitution. The move has caused outrage among the political class as well as angry protests on the streets.
