Des milliers de membres du Hezbollah libanais, un puissant parti chiite soutenu par l’Iran, ont été blessés ce mardi 17 septembre 2024 dans l’explosion simultanée de leurs bipeurs, a rapporté une source proche du mouvement au média américain CNN, ainsi que les services de santé du pays. « Des dizaines de membres du Hezbollah ont été blessés dans la banlieue sud de Beyrouth », un fief de l’organisation islamiste, ainsi que « dans le sud du Liban à cause de l’explosion de leurs bipeurs », selon une source proche du parti. Un « piratage israélien » a été évoqué par les membres de l’organisation chiite. Sur les réseaux sociaux, plusieurs vidéos récupérées depuis des caméras de sécurité montrent des hommes s’effondrant après une explosion dans leur poche.
