The Israeli military said it had "eliminated" Ahmed Barakat, who it accused of a May 2023 attack that killed an Israeli settler. Jenin and its adjacent refugee camp are a stronghold of armed Palestinian groups opposing Israel, which has occupied the West Bank since 1967. Mourners gather in Beirut for the funeral of Hamas officials killed in a strike on the suburbs of Beirut on the 3rd of January, including the Hamas deputy chief, Saleh al-Aruri. Lebanese authorities and Hamas accused Israel of killing Hamas leader Aruri and other officials, with Lebanese state media saying they died in a drone strike. Darya Trepova, a 26-year-old accused of killing a military blogger and supporter of Moscow's Ukraine offensive, appears in court for her case's first hearing. Russian investigators say Ukraine orchestrated the attack on Vladlen Tatarsky, which took place at a cafe in Saint Petersburg in April. Trepova is alleged to have gifted Tatarsky a statuette, which exploded minutes later, killing the blogger and wounding more than 30 others.
