UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says that Russia and Ukraine's signing of a deal with the United Nations and Turkey on resuming grain shipments would "bring relief for developing countries on the edge of bankruptcy". He adds that the accord "opens a path for significant volumes of commercial food exports from three key Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea: Odessa, Chornomorsk and Yuzhny." IMAGES
The United States hails a Turkish-brokered deal to export grain from Ukrainian ports and urges Russia to implement it. "We welcome the announcement of this agreement in principle, but what we're focusing on now is holding Russia accountable for implementing this agreement and for enabling Ukrainian grain to get to world markets," State Department spokesman Ned Price tells reporters.
