Germany gives green light for delivery of Leopard tanks to Ukraine
Members of the G7 reaffirmed their commitment to Ukraine and the war of aggression it is fighting. All seven countries pledged to continue to support Kyiv financially and with arms, while continuing on the path of sanctions against Moscow.
Germany's Defence Minister Boris Pistorius says he believes the EU member will manage to send a first battalion of tanks to war-torn Ukraine by April. "I think we could deliver at least one battalion in the first four months of this year. Three months maybe. And then we have to proceed as fast as possible of course," he tells reporters while on a visit to Warsaw. SOUNDBITE
Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands plan to provide Ukraine with at least 100 refurbished Leopard 1 battle tanks in the coming months.
