Introducing the new Ford Ranger Wildtrak X

Description

Ford is expanding its Ranger lineup with the off-road-focused Wildtrak X, arriving in Australian showrooms in the second half of the year as a go-anywhere special edition. With a recommended Manufacturer List Price (MLP) of $75,990, Ranger Wildtrak X bridges the gap between the high-performance Ranger Raptor and the recreation-orientated Wildtrak and is designed for customers who want greater off-road capability and smart features that support their passion for adventure without compromising the Ranger’s impressive 3500kg towing capacity.Elevating the Wildtrak X’s on- and off-road ability are core wheel and suspension improvements. The Ranger Wildtrak X’s Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers not only allows drivers to go further off the beaten track, but also improves on-road cornering manners. This is thanks to End Stop Control Valve (ESCV) technology within the Bilstein dampers. The position-sensitive dampers allow for better fine-tuning and calibration so that the Wildtrak X’s on-road comfort matches its off-road performance. With a monotube design and nitrogen-charged external reservoir, the Bilstein dampers have an increased tuning bandwidth that allow for dual driving characteristics. The Wildtrak X will be the first Ranger 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel variant to feature the advanced Full-time 4WD system instead of the part-time ‘shift on the fly’ 4x4 system.

  • NextGen Ford Ranger Wildtrak Design Preview

Customer input was key to developing the next-generation Ranger’s rugged new look. Ford spent a lot of time with owners around the globe, conducting more than 5,000 interviews and dozens of customer workshops to understand how customers used their pick-ups and what they wanted and expected in the new Ranger.Visually, the next-generation Ranger is bold and confident, with a purposeful exterior that shares Ford’s global truck design DNA. The design features a defined new grille, and signature C‑clamp headlight treatment at the front while a subtle shoulder line down the sides incorporates bolder wheel arches that gives Ranger a sure-footed stance. For the first time, Ford Ranger offers matrix LED headlights. At the back, the taillights are designed in harmony with the signature graphics on the front. Inside, the car‑like cabin steps up, using premium soft‑touch materials, and prominent portrait‑style centre touchscreen with Ford’s signature SYNC 4 connectivity and entertainment system. 3“Customers told us the Ranger needs to look tough and needs to inspire confidence,” said Max Tran, chief designer for Ranger. “They were very clear in what Ranger should be, both in the way it looks, and the way it makes them feel.”Beneath the new bodywork is an upgraded chassis riding on a wheelbase 50mm longer and a track 50mm wider than the prior Ranger. A hydro‑formed front‑end structure creates more space in the engine bay for the new V6 engine and helps future-proof the Ranger for other propulsion technologies. It also opens up the front of the pick-up to allow more airflow to the radiator, which helps keep running temperatures low when towing or carrying heavy loads.

  • FOX Live Valve Tech in Ranger Raptor

The all-new 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor, is the most powerful and high-performance, off-road capable Ranger ever. It’s designed and engineered to take off-road capability to the next level among midsize trucks. The heart of every Ford Raptor performance vehicle is the suspension. This new video gives an in-depth explanation of how Ranger Raptor’s class-exclusive 2.5-inch FOX Live Valve shocks work to help chase the horizon. It includes a cool x-ray view of how the internal bypass shocks actively manage damping across harsh terrain.Ranger’s next-generation shocks are coil-overs at the front and piggyback reservoirs at the rear to reduce heat build-up for uninterrupted performance all day long. The FOX Live Valve Internal Bypass system changes damping performance based on Ranger Raptor’s Drive Modes. The modes include Normal, Tow/Haul, Sport, Slippery, Off-Road, Rock Crawl, and Baja, all developed to provide better on-road comfort, off-road control, capability and ride quality at high and low speeds. The front frame rails, front shock towers, rear shock brackets, suspension mounting points, and other key areas have all been specially reinforced, so Ranger Raptor can handle more punishing off-road conditions.
