EU proposes a cap on power companies' "unexpected revenues"

Description

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says the EU will propose a cap on the "enormous revenues" being earned by nuclear and renewable power companies as they benefit from exorbitant electricity prices caused by the war in Ukraine. "Low carbon energy sources are making unexpected revenues, which do not reflect their production costs" she says, during a press conference on energy, held as European countries scramble to prepare for a difficult winter.
