Ten months after a 16-year-old Arctic wolf died at a zoo in northern China, a new cub was born through cloning technology. Using a beagle dog as the gestational carrier, Beijing-based Sinogene Biotechnology claimed they had successfully cloned an Arctic wolf, the "world's first" of its kind.
This baby wolverine was discovered in a box of oranges in April, abandoned by some unknown stranger, with no parents in sight and in very poor health. Zookeepers at the Novosibirsk zoo nursed her back to health and gave her plenty of love, leading to a full recovery for the wolverine they called Nor. Now the one-year-old wolverine cub called Nor can be found prancing around happily at Novosibirsk Zoo, full of life and energy.
A cute and curious cotton-top tamarin monkey which bears an uncanny resemblance to the late German theoretical physicist Albert Einstein was welcomed to Roev Ruchei Zoo in Krasnoyarsk on October 26 and he's been winning hearts ever since. With around 6,000 cotton-top tamarins left worldwide, the species is critically endangered and one of the rarest primates on earth.
A wolf found in Colombia, far from his natural habitat and who was probably brought there through illegal wildlife trafficking, is on exhibit at the Santa Fe Zoo in Medellin after a period of quarantine to monitor his health.
